I am looking for a place to have a regular event in my (fairly new) neighborhood in East Orange New Jersey USA. The purpose of this event is to strengthen community and build empowering bonds between us (those who live here). I will recruit other neighbors to take on defined roles (that I have documented) to help me put on this event. The event will have a format with a beginning, middle and end, (not too long) there will be food sharing, and general sharing all round including performances and other displays of creative self expression. To start it will be for 6 consecutive weeks in the spring or summer.I would like to find others interested in, or already doing this in your neighborhood/community and build a pool of knowledge and leadership between ourselves that can be used to expand the science and art of creating local neighborhood based community strengthening events. I have collected lots of information and experience about how and why this can be done effectively, that I have documented and would like to share and I feel the inspiration to continue web-logging aka blogging about this.
